Privacy Policy

Constitutional Clarity ("we", "our", or "us") is an educational study tool for the United States Constitution. This policy explains what limited information we collect and how we use it.

What we collect

  • Quiz activity and IP address. When you take a quiz, we record your answers, score, and the IP address of the device used. IP addresses are used only to enforce the per-device attempt limit (so each device gets a fair, non-repeating set of questions across attempts) and to prevent abuse. They are not used to identify you personally, not sold, and not shared.
  • Email address (only if you pass and opt in). If you successfully complete the quiz, you will be invited to provide your name and email address to be included in a companion civics project. Providing this information is entirely optional. If you submit it, we store your name and email so we can contact you about that project.
  • Local device storage. We store study preferences (such as bookmarked clauses and clauses you have marked "Proficient" in your browser's local storage on your own device. This data is not sent to us.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party.
  • We do not require you to create an account to study the Constitution or take the quiz.

Advertising & third-party cookies

This site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google is a third-party vendor whose ads may appear at the bottom of pages on this site.

  • Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick / DART cookie) and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • Non-personalized ads use only contextual information (such as the content of the page and your approximate location). Personalized ads additionally use information about your interests based on your browsing.
  • Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland will be shown a Google-managed consent prompt controlling whether personalized or non-personalized ads are used.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by Google and its partners at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings.

We do not share any of the information you provide directly to us (quiz answers, IP address, name, email) with Google or any other advertising partner.

How we use email addresses from quiz passers

If you opt in after passing the quiz, we will use your email address solely to invite you to participate in a separate civics/wiki project operated by us. You may ask us to remove your email at any time by contacting the administrator of this site, and it will be deleted from our records.

Data retention

  • Quiz attempts and IP addresses are retained only as long as needed to enforce attempt limits and to improve the question pool.
  • Email addresses collected from passing participants are retained until you ask us to remove them.

Children

Constitutional Clarity is intended for a general audience researching or studying the U.S. Constitution. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted an email address, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

  • You may study and take the quiz without ever providing an email address.
  • You may request deletion of your email address at any time.
  • You may clear locally stored study data by clearing your browser storage for this site.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings, or by declining consent in the prompt shown to EEA/UK/CH visitors.
